A Pair of Louis XVI Painted Wood Jardinière Stands

A Pair of Louis XVI Painted Wood Jardinière Stands

The circular container carved with pearls and rinceaux and supported by an inswept strung-piaster quadripartite stand with a central finial and hung with swags raised on a conforming plinth. This stunning pair is very much evocative of the designs of Delafosse (French, 1734-1789), an architect as well as an engraver and decorative designer, and one of the most influential figures in the development of the early neo-grec Louis XVI style.
